Convention After Dark

denablizzardYou’ve worked hard all day. Convention After Dark helps you unwind and enjoy what Atlantic City has to offer.

Your NJEA Convention badge is your admission to these events. Except for Thursday night’s events at the Golden Nugget Grand Ballroom and the Early-Career Member event, activities are open to NJEA members, NJEA staff, registered presenters and exhibitors.

The Thursday Golden Nugget events in the Grand Ballroom are open only to NJEA members and their immediate family member guests and NJEA staff and requires an NJEA Convention badge for admission. Early-career members should look for a special email invitation.

Comedian Dena Blizzard

Atlantic City Convention Center – Hall A

A former Miss New Jersey who “proudly placed in the Top 50” at the 1995 Miss America pageant, has co-hosted “Anderson Live” and “Real Simple” on PBS. She is currently performing her one-woman show, “One Funny Mother” off-Broadway.

From Jersey With Love

From Jersey With Love is a home-grown Jersey band featuring NJEA member Marlaina Melker as the lead singer.



Convention After Dark lights up the night! Early-Career Member Networking Event

6 – 9 p.m.
Haven at the Golden Nugget

Still the most sought-after ticket at the NJEA Convention, this exciting event with a clunky name takes place at one of the hottest nightclubs in the country.
Early-career members should look for an email invitation.
All-State Jazz Ensemble and

New Jersey Honors Jazz Choir

7:30 p.m.
Claridge Hotel

A great opportunity to see the talent of New Jersey students with a Jazz vibe.

Stand-up Comedy and Music

**UPDATE  **

Due to expected turnout, the comedy performance by Julia Scotti has been moved to the Showroom at Golden Nugget (just off the hotel lobby). The concert by Rock of Ages will begin at 10 p.m. in The Grand Ballroom.

Come enjoy both shows – they’ll be great! Remember that your NJEA Convention badge is your admission ticket!

9 p.m. – midnight
Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino

Come to the Grand Ballroom for a night with comedian Julia Scotti and with the cover band Rock of Ages. Julia Scotti, who blew the judges away on Season 11 of “America’s Got Talent,” will have members rolling in the aisles. A former teacher, she’s sure to be a delight in a room full of educators. Rock of Ages, starring former cast members of the Broadway production, is an all-Jersey group featuring Constantine Maroulis of “American Idol.”


Wrapping it up with student music All-State Chorus and Orchestra

8:30 p.m.
Atlantic City Convention Center – Hall A

Another opportunity to be wowed by the talent of New Jersey’s students. This time with with a choral and orchestral vibe.

Transportation for all Convention-After-Dark activities will be provided from all official convention hotels to each event venue until 30 minutes after the end of each event. The Golden Nugget has free self-parking.
