To celebrate the accomplishments of New Jersey public school graduates, NJEA presents the Award for Excellence to graduates who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in their fields of expertise. This year’s recipient is:
A 2008 graduate of Passaic Valley Regional High School, Chilean-native Patricio Molina is a musician, pianist, composer, church organist and conductor. He has appeared in venues around the world. The New York Times described Patricio as “a gifted artist” following his performance at Symphony Space’s “Wall-to-Wall Stravinsky.”
Patricio’s compositions embrace a variety of works: from a set of easy piano pieces for beginners to a fully orchestrated three-act ballet titled “Chiloé” to a fully orchestrated three-act opera titled “La Sargento de la Concepción.” Patricio also composes choral and chamber music.
Patricio is an ardent advocate of the music of Chile and Spain. He is currently working on an album of piano music by Spanish and Chilean composers. In addition, he is writing a piano concerto with Latin American flavors.
