Frequently Asked Questions

Will my presentation room have Internet?

Each presentation room is equipped with Wi-Fi. NJEA will provide password access to a dedicated network for the exclusive use of presenters upon check in at the Convention.

What audiovisual equipment will be provided and does it include laptops?

NJEA DOES NOT PROVIDE COMPUTERS or LAPTOPS. NJEA will supply the speaker, at a minimum, a projector, a stand and a screen. The presenter must provide the necessary adaptor(s) and/or cable (HDMI or VGA) to connect their computer to the projection equipment.  Please notify NJEA by Oct. 15 as to the type of connection (HDMI or VGA).

What if I have a MAC?

If you are using a MAC, you must bring the adapter (ex. Thunderbolt Ethernet Adapter) for the projector that is provided for you by NJEA.

Will there be a technician onsite if I am in need of assistance?

Yes, technicians are on each floor. The registrar sitting right outside your room can assist you with locating them if needed.

How soon before my program should I report to my presentation room?

Earliest arrival times depend on presentation time and will be communicated prior to Convention. Presenters must be in their rooms at least 15 minutes before the session is scheduled to begin. If the presenter is not in their room 15 minutes prior to their scheduled start time, members will be encouraged to find another session so they do not miss their chance of obtaining a Professional Development certification.

Will there be someone to assist me with getting boxes and/or materials to my presentation room?

No, NJEA does not provide assistance with presenter materials and discourages the distribution of paper handouts. We do encourage all presenters to utilize the NJEA Convention Mobile App – “NJEA Events” – and to minimize all handouts in the session. The 2016 NJEA Events app will be available after September 1, 2016. Instructions on how to upload materials and other information about your session will be sent to all presenters by our App provider, “Core Apps,” prior to the Convention. If you intend to provide printed materials for your session that you are unable to transport yourself, please see the information on shipping below.

Can I ship my materials to the Convention Center prior to the date of my presentation?

Yes, shipping information will be emailed to all presenters in October. Please make sure that your room number, session title name, and session time are clearly identified on the outside of each package. Without this information, we will be unable to coordinate the delivery of your materials in a timely manner prior to the start of your session. Further instructions regarding materials shipment will be included in the final Convention presenter e-mail which will be send on or before October 21.

May my relative/spouse/colleague be able to accompany me into my presentation room?

No, only members with credentials or presenters with presenter badges will have access to the classroom. Non-members can purchase PD access badges in the box office located on the first floor. The admission price for access to the 3rd and 4th floors where presentations take place is $150.

I may not be able to make it to Atlantic City for my scheduled presentation. May I send someone in my place?

No, the presentation will be cancelled. All presenter changes must be approved by NJEA well in advance of Convention.

Why wasn’t I sent hotel information?

Information about hotel reservations are communicated to eligible presenters according to NJEA policy based on presentation time(s). Presenters eligible for a hotel room were notified via email.

Will I be eligible for PD credit for my presentation?

Yes, after the convention, the NJEA Convention office will ensure that certification is provided.

Will I be reimbursed for parking?

NJEA will only reimburse for parking once each day you present (original receipt required). Also, be advised that the Convention Center lot is usually full and closes by 8:30 a.m. each day.

How do I receive the results of session evaluations after my presentation?

Please keep in mind that the data collected through NJEA evaluations is limited. You are welcome to also distribute your own evaluation survey, and we encourage you to use an online survey tool rather than a paper instrument. If you would like a copy of our evaluation results, please contact Janet L. Royal, the convention coordinator, at after January 15, 2017.

If I already have my member badge, do I need to get a presenter badge also?

Yes, you are required to check in at the Presenter Check-In Room outside of Hall A on the second floor of the Atlantic City Convention Center. This assures us that you are present for your presentation. Also, without your presenter badge you will be counted as a member and could be taking away a spot if your session reaches the room’s full capacity.

Will there be a designated room for presenters to test equipment, prepare and/or relax before their scheduled presentation?

Yes, room 319 is the Presenter Lounge. You can test equipment, relax and enjoy coffee, tea and water between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (NJEA is not responsible for lost or stolen items.) Note that the Presenter Lounge will close following the start of the 3:00 p.m. session on Friday, November 11 to prepare for an evening event.
